Showcase events are an opportunity for national scouts and coaches to see you perform in real-game situations. Rijo Athletics Baseball selects the top players in the Pacific Northwest to play in these events. Do scouts really show up? They do! Do we get calls about our players after the event? We do! That’s what it’s all about.

Every year in late October, we take teams to the Las Vegas Desert Classic Tournament. This is a showcase event for our 9U through 18U team and gives our younger players an idea of what will be required of them when it’s their turn to be in front of college recruiters.

During Christmas break, we traditionally travel to California, and during the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, we head to Arizona. In 2008, Martin Luther King weekend, we took 3 teams to a national tournament. Our 14u and 16u competed in a USSSA tournament in Phoenix, AZ and both won their respected divisions and championships. Our 18u team traveled to southern California and won their respected tournaments during the same weekend. To accomplish this, when our kids from the Northwest have not been outside playing for over 3 months and to go down south and win against teams that have been playing year-around, is almost unheard of. This is a true testament of how our training and coaching philosophy  works.

In June, we  take 15 and 16-year-olds to the 15U/16U Championship Games (formerly known as the USA Junior Olympic Tournament) in Peoria, Arizona, which is the most respected and highly anticipated tournament in the US. In 2014, we will be competing in the USA 15U/16U Championship Games.

Rijo showcase events are by invitation only. Staff members select the players they feel would most benefit and best represent Rijo Athletics.
